On Wednesday i was admitted into hospital to have my permanent catheter removed from my chest.

A permcath is a tube that they run through your main artery into your hart in order to effectively dialyse you. This is one of few options available to dialysis patients, another would be peritoneal dialysis which is where they place a plastic bag inside your stomach and where you can dialyse at home by changing the liquids yourself. Another option (the one used most for chronic patients) would be a AV fistula. last year i went for surgery to have a fistula created. With a fistula the nurses insert two needles in your arm to provide access to the machine for dialysis.

After almost a whole day of waiting i was wheeled in at just after 5 oclock, the operation took 30 minutes where they removed my permcath i am still recovering from the unexpected pain that only a small cut can produce. And it sure does feel wierd not having anything sitting on my chest anymore. Awesome!
